Over the past few days, I got a nasty clogged throat and was very dizzy. I am just now recovering from this. I’ve thought about some of the things that were helpful for me as I was going through this ‘sick’ spell and wanted to share what helps me when I am feeling sick. After all, when you are sick, everything becomes difficult. There is taking proper medicine and going to the doctor, but I will talk about willpower, how to present yourself, and seeing the end.
Willpower
Being sick is never easy. It makes doing the things we want to the most very difficult. It puts a damper on trying to achieve purpose and fulfill destiny. One thing that helps me in times of suffering is to know that I will not cease existing no matter how sick I am. In that sense, you can ednure anything no matter how painful.
Develop an iron will and strengthen your emotional stability. This will help you as you are experiencing the pain and discomfort of being sick. Keep your thoughts focused positively and laugh and smile in the midst of not feeling good. Take this time to be thankful for your health and look forward to being healthy again.
How to Present Yourself
Recognize you are sick, but do not constantly moan and complain about it. I know that when you are really sick it sucks and all you want to do is complain and moan about it. But you will be doing others a big favor by letting them know you are sick, and then leaving it at that. Tell those around you that you are suffering and ask them to be mindful of it. Then leave it at that and do what you have to do to cope with it without complaining.
With a little effort and willpower, you will be able to handle being sick without complaining. If it is so bad that you have to moan in agony, I recommend that you go somewhere by yourself to do it. Just picture someone right now screaming and complaining while you are trying to do whatever it is you are doing. Even being very sick, still remain considerate of others.
Seeing the End
Most illnesses are temporary – they will go away after a period of time. Keep that in mind while going through the sickness. With a little effort and perseverance, you will see your illness to the end and start feeling better. You will be more thankful for your health once you are not sick.
I know that in some cases, there are illnesses or diseases that are beyond the scope of this article, such as fatal cancers, heart failures, and other problems. Such an intense topic will have to be an article for another day.
