Those who are truly brave, shall never live in fear -- 'The Rock' Dwayne Johnson

Posted on August 5, 2008 in Meet The Rock by drjermNo Comments »

In my quest to meet The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, I have purchased the book: “The Rock Says”.  This is an informative book that I am reading that gives details of The Rock’s life, from early childhood through his wrestling days.  I will do a full review of the book on my website once I finish reading it.

Beyond that, one of the things I need to do to meet The Rock is to compile a list of all the main achievements he has done.  I am doing this so that I can know exactly what his successes are.  With that, here are The Rock’s main achievements, in wrestling and in movies.  Some of the information is taken from:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dwayne_johnson.

Main Movies

(2001) ’The Mummy Returns’ - The Rock plays Mathayus, the Scorpion King

(2002) ‘The Scorpion King’ - The Rock plays Mathayus, the Scorpion King

(2003) ‘The Rundown’ - The Rock plays Beck

(2004) ‘Walking Tall’ - The Rock plays Chris Vaughn

(2005) ‘Be Cool’ - The Rock plays Elliot Wilhelm

(2005) ‘Doom’ - The Rock plays Sarge.  This is a very bloody movie :)

(2006) ‘Gridiron Gang’ - The Rock plays Sean Porter

(2007) ‘The Game Plan’ - The Rock plays Joe Kingman

(2008) ‘Get Smart’ - The Rock plays Agent 23

One interesting thing to note is that the salary that is documented for all his movies is around $32,000,000.  That’s a good chunk of change.  And that’s just the documented salaries for his movies.

Wrestling

The Rock was a seven time WWE champion.  Whether or not you believe wrestling is real or fake is irrelevant to the impact The Rock had on the WWE.  His charisma, flare, and poise made him a favorite of fans.  I have no doubt that The Rock was one of the keys that made the WWE # 1 in wrestling entertainment today.

The Rock also has plenty of merchandise that gets sold on his behalf, including shirts, hats,  action figures, and other memorabilia.

Final Thoughts

It is clear that The Rock’s bread and butter lies within movies, wrestling, and merchandise.  Nowadays, The Rock is focused solely on movies and is doing a great job.  When I talk with The Rock, it is clear that a big part of the conversation will be about his wrestling days and the movies he has been in.  Beyond that, I’m very interested to know details about his growing up, particularly in middle school, high school, and college.  Now that I have a better handle on The Rock’s main accomplishments, I can move on to other areas that need figuring out.

Yes, I’ve made it a goal to show that anything is possible with a little determination, planning, and faith.  One such thing for me is meeting ‘The Rock’, Dwayne Johnson.  My first article about this can be read here.  My next step is to have a knowledge about his life such that I can talk very intelligently about who he is, what he has done in his life, and the success he has had.  As such, let me share my knowledge and interpretation of The Rock’s life.

Family

The Rock’s mom is Ata Maivia and his father is Wayde Bowles (whose wrestling name was ‘Soulman’ Rocky Johnson).  His father is African-Canadian and his mother is Samoan.  The Rock’s father formerly wrestled in the WWF (now the WWE).  I have yet to find any information about The Rock’s brothers and sisters if he has any.

Early Life

The Rock spent some time in Auckland, New Zealand with hist mother’s family.  During this time, “The Rock was exposed to one of the urban Polynesian cultural strongholds of the Southern Hemisphre” (Source: en.wikipedia.org).  The Rock eventually moved back to the United States and when he was in 11th grade in high school, he started to play football.  His high school was Freedom High School (located in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania).  The Rock also did Track and Field in addition to wrestling at his high school.

Thank goodness for sites like Wikipedia for having this information about The Rock available.  However, I am going to have to go book hunting to see if there is more in-depth information about The Rock and to see what more knowledge I can gain about his early life.

Characteristics

The Rock is arguably one of the most charismatic people I have ever seen.  He is in great shape, confident, and sure of himself.  These are the main characteristics that intrigue me about The Rock.  The Rock is determined, capable, and his success is huge.  It is truly a great endeavor to attempt to interview him :)

Failures

The Rock hasn’t always been successful.  He’s had a few setbacks.  He played professional football for the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football league.  Unfortunately, The Rock faced  a couple injuries during his college years at the University of Miami, Florida.  He was cut two months into the season playing in the Canadian Football League.  He was broke for many years.  The Rock has also dealt with a divorce from his wife, which was finalized in 2008.  It is important to note that The Rock is human just like the rest of us.  I am sure he’s faced more setbacks than just the few I’ve mentioned here.

Successes

You will notice quickly that The Rock’s list of successes far outweigh his setbacks.  The Rock won a national championship at the University of Miami at Florida for football.  He followed in his father’s footsteps and is arguably one of the most successful WWE wrestlers of all time.  The Rock has written books and now does movies, several of which were very successful.

I won’t go into the details about each success, you can go to

to read all about his life.  The main thing is that he’s sure of himself.  When he sets out to do something, he makes it happen.

Final Thoughts

I have a better understanding of the overall person that The Rock is now.  I am going to take this and start moving forward into more detail about the specific things that have happened in his life, books he’s written, and the movies he’s been a part of, and what his life is currently like.  This should give me an idea of where I can start in order to figure out how much free time The Rock has and to gather more details to increase my knowledge.

Hello everyone, as I am writing, I have a special announcement to make.  I am going to show you that regular folks like you and I can do things that are extraordinary.  And by doing so, we shift from the ordinary to the extraordinary.  I realize I need credibility.  I’ve been open and honest about my life, my feelings, challenges I’ve faced, and who I am on my ‘About Me‘ pages both here on my blog and on my website at drjerm.com.  But that is not enough.  To all of you reading my blog, I have a quest that I am now embarking on.  And that quest is this:

I Am Going to Interview ‘The Rock’ Dwayne Johnson and post the interview on my website for all of you to read and watch!

You can click the link to The Rock above to find out who he is.  You can also see examples of him on the Drjerm website for ‘positive energy‘ and ‘staying healthy‘.  The Rock is a terrific example of someone who has the qualities to achieve success in this life.

Take a moment and read what I have written here a few times.  Let it sink in.  This is not some random thing I am doing.  I’ve talked about ‘The Rock’ on drjerm.com on several occasions.  He shows many of the characteristics that I seek to instill in my readers, such as confidence, charisma, enthusiasm, and success in life.  Because of that, I am going to make an interview with him happen.

So you may be asking, how in the blue [expletive] am I going to make this happen?  I am glad if you are asking this, because I am asking this.  I have done no research yet on how to meet The Rock.  But to show that I am smart and understanding enough of the magnitude of the situation, I am able to compile a list of facts, challenges, and questions to tackle this bold undertaking:

  • I am smart, intelligent, confident, and focused.
  • When do you plan on making this whole meet The Rock thing happen?
  • I am not some fan making a website with dreams and wishes of meeting The Rock.  I am someone who is resourceful and smart enough to make it happen.
  • Meeting The Rock will be very challenging and difficult, but very worth it.
  • The Rock is very busy, it is likely even getting a few hours with him will require a well in advance warning.
  • Why would The Rock want to spend his time meeting and talking with me?  He can probably get paid thousands of dollars to meet with those who have money to pay him.
  • The Rock likely has agents or public relations people that are the first line of contact for him.
  • Where will I interview The Rock?  How will it all get setup and arranged?
  • What will be the costs to interview The Rock?  Travel, filming, for his time, food, etc…
  • What will I talk to The Rock about when I meet him?
  • How will I get the attention of The Rock and get him so he WANTS me to interview him?
  • How will I deal with the many challenges and obstacles that will be involved in interviewing The Rock?
  • What about fear of not being able to make it happen? (I can already tell you the answer to this one - I am not afraid of failing.  I know I’m talented and smart.  I know I’ve got a good shot at this).
  • How will interviewing The Rock make a difference?

So we have a list of things here off the top of my head, and there is likely much more to it.  I know that for my goal of using Drjerm.com as resource for me to be a life coach, to inspire and uplift people, and to help people see that they can make their dreams happen, that I need to really start making some things happen for evidence for all of you!

And it is with great excitement, challenge, and intruige, that I announce my undertaking to meet The Rock.  I know that there will be many obstacles.  I have to figure quite a few things out.  It will likely take some time before I make the progress I want to.  I will continue to write and inspire while I work on meeting The Rock.  As I get more details and work through it, I will document every last detail so that you can see from start to finish that I was able to make it happen.

Wish me luck.  As a life coach seeking to help people who are discouraged, not confident, or otherwise depressed, I will show you that with persistence and determination, that you can make your dreams come true!
